    Sodium aescinate is a potent anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous and anti-exudative agent. It is a mixture of triterpenoid saponins extracted from the seeds of horse chestnut (Aesculus indica).

    Clinical applications

    A potent anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous and venotonic agent. Widely used to treat edema, hematoma and chronic venous insufficiency

    Mode of administration

    Oral, intravenous or topical.

    Pharmacological effects

    Reduces swelling by decreasing capillary permeability and inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators such as bradykinin and histamine. In traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury models, it has been reported to protect neurons by inhibiting microglial activation and reducing inflammatory response pathways
